We’re proud to share that we’ve achieved an overall score of 95%, rated Outstanding, in our 17th annual Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) registration review.

We’ve been registered with the Scheme since 2009. Every year, the review looks at how we treat the people and places around our sites, not just the work we deliver. It covers three areas: how we respect local communities, how we protect the environment, and how we look after our workforce.

Our people are at the heart of everything we do. This year’s report found that our training, development and wellbeing support exceeds CCS requirements. This includes private healthcare and confidential counselling for our team, along with flexible working, an open-door management style and a recognition and reward scheme that celebrates safety, quality and good practice.

Wellbeing is also part of everyday site life. Healthy living and mental health topics are regularly covered in toolbox talks across our sites.

Training the next generation and supporting the community 

Our Construction Training Academy runs a rolling programme of apprentices, with the aim of apprentices making up 10% of our direct workforce. We are immensely proud to be training the next generation of skilled tradespeople here in the North East and Yorkshire.

Our company mascots, Willow and Tommy, continue to visit schools and young people to promote construction careers and raise awareness of site safety. The CCS Monitor recognised their work as ongoing best practice, and we couldn’t agree more.

Where our work takes place 

Much of our work takes place in close proximity to live environments such as schools, public sector sites, defence, commercial, retail and national heritage sites, so considerate working matters.

Our sites plan traffic management carefully, deliver toolbox talks on respectful behaviour, and keep clients and neighbours informed with pre-start and progress communications. We also use Thrive social value software to plan and measure the positive impact our projects make in local communities.

Our accreditations 

Our working practices are fully audited under ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environmental) and ISO 45001 (health and safety). We’re also accredited to Constructionline Gold and CHAS. On the environmental side, we have carbon and net zero strategies in place, buy renewable energy and set targets to reduce waste and resource use on every site.
